PRESIDENT, EXECUTIVE CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Reed Krakoff assumed the role of Senior Vice President and Executive Creative Director in December 1996 and soon after unveiling his first collection, it became clear that he would quickly lead the company in an even more influential role. Two and a half years later, Krakoff was appointed President, Executive Creative Director, where he continues today.
Originally from Weston, Connecticut, Krakoff received a degree in Fashion Design from Parsons School of Design. Krakoff entered the fashion world from the ground up, first joining the ranks at Anne Klein and soon catapulting into top positions with other prominent design houses, including five years at Ralph Lauren.
Throughout the fashion industry, word quickly spread of Krakoff and his pioneering talents and it was not long before he was recruited by leading American accessories designer Coach. Since his arrival, he has led the creative renaissance that successfully strengthened an already formidable brand image and contributed to increased sales of Coach products throughout the world. As the architect of the brand, he leads design, store concept, marketing, and worldwide positioning.
Krakoff has been triumphant in revamping the brand and during his 13 year tenure has shepherded two fragrances, the Legacy concept boutique, a jewelry line, and notable design collaborations with fashion darlings Phillip Lim and Eugenia Kim and artist Kiki Smith, among others.
Krakoff has garnered the respect of his industry and peers and has received countless professional accolades to match. In 2007, Krakoff was elected vice president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), an institution that has been extremely supportive of his work. In 2001, the CFDA bestowed Krakoff with a distinct honor: Accessories Designer of the Year. In 2004, the CFDA once again awarded this distinction.
Most recently, Krakoff has added photographer to his resume, following the likes of Mario Testino, Mikael Jansson, and Peter Lindbergh, formerly behind Coach’s invigorating advertising campaigns. Today, Krakoff himself styles and photographs the campaigns and most recently worked with well-known celebrity faces Kate Bosworth and Mandy Moore and style icon Iris Apfel. His work has been shown in exhibits in New York City and Tokyo and featured in magazines such as Elle Décor, Town & Country, and Interview.
Krakoff is a consummate patron and supporter of the arts and is closely involved with the Cooper Hewitt Museum and the Whitney Museum. In addition to serving on the board at Parsons School of Design, he is a mentor for the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund. He has also published several books of his photography, including Claude & Francois-Xavier Lalanne, Fighter: The Ultimate Fighters of the UFC, and the forthcoming Mattia Bonetti. Krakoff currently resides in New York City with his family.
